PBN Green Blend is a general all-purpose supplement that can add a generous amount of vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants to most any diet.

Contents:

Alfalfa - contains protein, vitamins, minerals, and antioxidants. Alfalfa is one of the best herbal therapies for arthritis and has cancer-prevention properties by inactivating chemicals that can cause cancer. Alfalfa can help undernourished animals reach and maintain a healthy weight. It has also been known to be effective in treating copraphagia (stool-eating) and bad breath.

Barley Grass - contains large amounts of Vitamins C, A, B1, B2, B6, E, biotin, folic acid, choline, pantothenic acid, iron, chlorophyll, potassium, calcium, magnesium, manganese, zinc, proteins, and enzymes.

Chlorella - is a warm-water algae that has less protein than spirulina but more chlorophyll (an antioxidant) and nucleic acid. Chlorella contains protein (approximately 58 percent), carbohydrates, all of the B vitamins (more vitamin B12 than liver), vitamins C and E, amino acids and additional rare trace minerals.

Kelp - is rich in amino acids, vitamins, minerals, and trace elements. Feeding kelp to pets can improve coat and skin health, aid in tissue repair, assist in utilization and absorption of nutrients from foods. Kelp is also a natural source of iodine, necessary for proper thyroid function.

Spirulina - is a high-potency, fresh-water, blue-green algae. Spirulina has been shown to be excellent for the immune system, is anti-viral, anti-inflammatory and anti-oxidant. It is good for the eyes, blood lipids (cholesterol), skin and it has proven benefits for the liver and kidneys. In vitro studies show that the pigment in spirulina can inhibit cancer colony formation and may enhance the formation of neurotransmitters. Spirulina also is a highly-digestible natural source of protein, far surpassing the protein bioavailability of beef, and is more dense and more digestible than any animal-derived protein.

Ingredients: Alfalfa, Barley Grass, Chlorella, Icelandic Kelp, and Spirulina.

Directions: Add to pet's food once per day.

Dosage: Small dog or cat 1/8 tsp, Medium dog 1/4 tsp, Large dog 1/2 tsp.

Caution: Overuse of these herbs may cause diarrhea in some animals. If your pet experiences diarrhea, cut the dosage in half or switch from daily supplementation to 3 times per week.

Additional Information: A little goes a long way. For example, if fed daily according to the label, the 1/2 pound jar of PBN Green Blend provides approximately 6 month's supply for one large dog.

UC DAVIS STUDY SHOWS SPIRULINA BOOSTS IMMUNE SYSTEM

(SACRAMENTO, Calif.) - Adding spirulina to cultured immune system cells significantly increases the production of infection fighting cytokines, say immunologists at UC Davis School of Medicine and Medical Center. Their finding is published in the Fall issue of the Journal of Medicinal Foods.

Spirulina are blue-green algae rich in antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and other nutrients. Used as a food supplement for more than 20 years, spirulina grows naturally in lakes with extremely high pH levels, but it is also harvested from large-scale commercial ponds, where purity is monitored before being dried and distributed in tablet and powdered form.

A number of animal studies have shown spirulina to be an effective immunomodulator (an agent that can effect the behavior of immune cells.) In rats spirulina inhibited allergic reactions by suppressing  the release of histamine in a dose-dependent fashion. In cats, spirulina enhanced the ability of macrophages to engulf bacteria, and in chickens spirulina increased antibody responses and the activity of natural killer cells, which destroy infected and cancerous cells in the body.
